'Strange Moosic' is the first Herman Dune album on which the songs had not been played at shows before being recorded. When previous albums were the reflections the Herman Dune live show of the time, 'Strange Moosic' was recorded as 20 different single tracks, and then went through a process of choices, selection and compilation.

They were arranged and practiced for recording, even if they were played and sung simultaneously, live in the studio.

Portland was the perfect town for Herman Dune to record Strange Moosic, as many of their musician friends live there and were able to participate in the recording process, such as Rachel Blumberg and Sean Flinn, who provided vocals.
